Better for what? Both services are primarily for person-to-person exchanges and less for organizations accepting payments, as far as I know.

In that capacity, I will say that I have tried Zell, using their stand-alone app for those whose banks don't support it directly. Last I tried it a few months ago, it pretty much never worked - I was trying to pay someone whose bank did support Zell and so they'd receive the funds directly and not have to transfer them, but it wasn't worth the hassle.

I've had bad experiences with both:
    - Venmo - sending money that was supposed to come to me to someone else, and not being able to make good on it; public transactions by default WTF?
    - Zelle - cancelling scheduled rent payments to my landlord due to technical issues at his bank, with the incorrect claim that I cancelled the transaction. Super WTF!
