Hello NTen, I'm in the process of looking for a new Disaster Recovery/Backup Solutions for our 3 Server one being an Exchange Server.
I'm looking at about 6TB storage capacity.  Does anyone have anyone thoughts/ides or a someone I could reach out to about a solutions.  I'm a little short on time with this because I am running out of space with my current solutions.

    Hey Marty,

Sorry to hear about crunch time. I would recommend reaching out to Mark Winter at Klik Solutions. They are also based in Maryland and one of their clients is actually "MD Nonprofits" so they can definitely point you in the right direction.

Thank you everyone for your feedback.  I'm looking for a Business Continuity solution.  I would like to if need be spin up a Virtual Server in the event the "real Server" goes down.

    Marty,

Our engineers get mad at us if we let our clients use any service other than Datto for BCDR. It's a partner-only service (meaning you have to purchase through a Datto partner), but we've used it for many years and have dumped almost every other backup service we provide as we work to move all our clients to Datto for any server/endpoint BCDR need.

Happy to discuss directly if you would like to learn more, Marty.

The numbers leader in the field with local/cloud and spin up machines is Datto for BCS. I have used it and just be aware once you go Datto, it is hard to move your data to another system. Be aware the main reason datto moved to MSP only is that their support and interface is just bad. That way they never have to speak with the real paying customer.  To be clear no one was ever fired for using Datto and you should be able to sleep at night.  If you want to try something better or different with the same capacities but gives you better access look at Altaro  https://www.altaro.com/ and ILand  https://www.iland.com/

I'd look at using BackBlaze for storage and Duplicati as the backup agent. We're moving off of CrashPlan Business to this model.

One gotcha is making sure you setup Duplicati to run as a service as well as making sure your BackBlaze buckets are created with one user account...the "teams" function is kind of misleading because buckets don't transfer across team members.

Good luck, you've got this! :)

If your Exchange servers are virtualized a quick option might be backing up the whole server using Hyper-V Backup from Altaro.  We utilize it as a secondary backup, and it works pretty well and can backup to external drives. Quick and dirty, I have restored Exchange DBs from it and it worked well.

    Hi,
Why don't you look at Azure, that will minimize the finger pointing when using different technologies.

    Hi Marty,
You may want to consider Veritas Backup Exec that can back up an Exchange Server - find it on TechSoup's NGO Marketplace here: https://www.techsoup.org/products/--G-49693--. It's $140 for unlimited storage, but keep in mind it unfortunately is a not-for-resale license so no Veritas support in included.

A guide for Veritas products is here as well: https://www.techsoup.org/support/articles-and-how-tos/guide-to-veritas-backup-and-recovery
