Eventbrite alternatives & heads up about their new ticket insurance upsell

I'm very unhappy with Eventbrite at the moment and looking for alternatives. What other event ticketing platforms have others in here used and recommend?

Also, heads up that if you use Eventbrite to sell tickets to a paid event they are now upselling a ticket insurance product to your customers. I discovered this yesterday morning on the event registration page for my org's upcoming annual conference. TicketGuardian was launched as part of their Spring 2019 product update, was not well communicated, was turned on globally for all ticketed events (including existing ones), and there is no option to turn it off.

Without ranting and raving getting into too many details, I gave them an earful about the concerns I have and requested that they immediately disable it on our account. My concerns were met with pushback and a vague promise that they would "reach out to engineering to ask them to disable it." So now I'm actively seeking an alternative ticketing platform.

It's a shame, because they have a good platform and have been a good partner for our organization for years. But I am not okay with them selling our constituents an insurance product that does not add value given our accommodating refund policies. So, please let me know what alternatives are good. Also, if you're an Eventbrite customer who's also not cool with this please let them know. This move was a big mistake and they need to hear about it.

Not sure all your event requirements, but I’d recommend a look at ti.to. Used them for a client gala and was well received by all.

Wow! That is a big, bogus change. Are they doing this only for tickets over a certain price level, or that are specifically for multi-day events like conferences?

Two general-purpose ticketing services I've used and liked are Brown Paper Tickets (https://bpt.me) and Ticketleap (https://www.ticketleap.com) but it's been a while since I did a head-to-head comparison on pricing and features. I do know Ticketleap is free for free events, like EB, which is nice if you have a mix of paid & free events and want to use a single platform.

Since you're on Salesforce, you might also want look at Salesforce-specific solutions like Soapbox Engage or Click & Pledge. Here's a spreadsheet from the Power of Us Hub's App Advice & Consumer Reports that's specifically about event management: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1fqK2XHr6tdF_vZWI5BFmRvZDWucMekoBVqJKowV6RCA/edit#gid=0

They're not transparent about which event tickets they add this on to. Their help center article on the topic just says that "ticket protection may not be available for all events or in all jurisdictions."

What matters to me is that it is still active on my org's annual conference registration checkout page, two days after asking them to immediately disable it. EDIT: About an hour after posting this, Eventbrite followed through and disabled TicketGuardian for all my org's events

Thanks to both of you for your recommendations, and I'd love to hear more. Am adding them as I find them to this list: https://pinboard.in/u:jasonsamuels/t:ticketing/t:resources

Check out Brown Paper Tickets, it's pretty easy to use.
