Dreaming...

    Hi,
I'm curious:  if you could imagine a way technology could make it easier and more efficient for nonprofits to connect with local businesses with fundraising solicitations (silent and live auction items, event sponsorships, table sales, etc.), what would it look like?  P.S. I have a solution in the works, but am hoping to get a fresh take / validation for my idea.   Thank you for dreaming for a second or two!  Merit

I don't know what it would look like, but it would have a place for procedures and relationships. For our silent auctions, many places needed forms filled out 90 days in advance.

    • Business
    • Time Frame for Ask (lead time for them to fufill or deny request)
    • link to form(s) businesses have to make requests
    • Business Contact
    • Place for history of contacts
    • thing you are asking for
    • Business history of asks/requests
    • Populate it with local directory of businesses (local Business Associations, chambers of commerce, current vendors)
    • Staff contact

These are just some things I would need to record to refer to about the process

Thank you so much Marlina! What does your nonprofit currently use for auction donor management systems?

We don't currently use anything. We do auctions infrequently. We haven't done one in a couple of years.

Hi Marlina, more discussion would be needed but it sounds generally like some sort of CRM software would be what you're looking for. Does your organization already use one, like Salesforce for example? There are many many options out there, each with different strengths and different price points.

We are using a CRM. Our needs are being met. I was just responding to the thought exercise the original poster asked. It is worthwhile activity to think of system agnostic processes and needs. Upon reflection, this question may have been more of a supply side one. Where are our local businesses that are okay to ask? What do they need? What can we offer them? I don't have any insight on that side of things I do more data work than relationship work.
