What is the purpose/need requiring this search for solution? If you can explain your story a bit it would help us to recommend a good solution to consider.

    Hi All,

Our association President adopted BoardEffect a few months ago and loves it. He didn't need any assistance from IT in getting it up and running and the board members have been engaged in a way they weren't with communications via email or our old board intranet. Part of the reason he chose it is because we're aimed at higher education professionals and many colleges as well as CHEMA organizations use this same platform so there was familiarity. The "base" price is $5000 per yer for 40 users but he negotiated that down to some more friendly non-profit pricing.

    Hi John,

We currently use DirectorPoint, partially because some of our board members already use DirectorPoint for other board they are on. Functionality-wise, it seems fine for board members to view the materials prior to the board meeting (though I'm not the one who personally uses it). We previously also used it for all of our staff, for them to see the board materials that are prepared. However, that was not well used among staff (and did cost money for each account). Once we implemented SharePoint, we had a better solution for internal staff members to view files so now DirectorPoint is only for the board members' use.

Learn how NAMI uses Salesforce Communities to create a functional, low cost, intuitive portal for board members. The success of any board meeting in part depends on preparation. Using Salesforce Communities, board members can easily see board rosters, committee assignments, board documents, and vote on key issues (relevant for a consent agenda board meeting).

If you're comfortable with a DIY approach and you happen to already be using Office 365, I think you could do it in SharePoint fairly easily and very low-cost. I created one in Salesforce for my org a couple of years ago using on-premise Sharepoint but I think the basic building blocks of what Sharepoint on-line provides are about the same and would be well suited to meeting the needs of a secure portal - Documents, Calendar, communications, etc. Good luck!
