We (the organizers of NTEN's Nonprofits and Data Community) are excited to share that we will be having a Data Community Call on KPIs and Metrics!

Though you may not use the exact term, key performance indicators (KPIs) are the measurable values an organization uses to evaluate its progress towards achieving major objectives. For nonprofit organizations, this may include metrics summarizing financial health, program delivery, and impact.

    We'll discuss questions:

    • What's your nonprofit's process for selecting KPIs? Are they established and tracked at the very top, or does each team define its most vital metrics and have its own process for evaluating them?
    • How often do you check KPIs? Do you have examples of how they drive decision-making or change?
    • Are KPIs tracked in your CRM/ERM software, outside data sources, or some combination?
    • What impact do KPIs have on your nonprofit's budgeting process?
    • Are there any recent initiatives your nonprofit has undergone in order to establish or improve KPI reporting?
    Event details

Our community calls are free and open to all, so feel free to share with colleagues and others who may be interested.

    Hope you'll join us!

Mighty Citizen is joining with Rachel Muir to offer this FREE webinar:

How to Upgrade Donors and Boost Revenue with Donor Surveys

Donors give for their reasons, not yours. If you don't truly understand your target audiences, your fundraising efforts are merely educated guesses.

Done right, donor surveys can help you unlock your donors' interests, connect them to your cause, build the right appeals, grow your major gift pipeline, and optimize your current donor portfolio. Done poorly, you could lose donors and end up with mountains of useless and misleading data.

If you're ready to discover how surveys can turn your fundraising strategy into a fine-tuned, sophisticated engine of revenue join Rachel Muir, CFRE, and Rachel Clemens, CMO of Mighty Citizen, and for actionable and surprising insights into what your current and prospective donors do, think, and need.

Learn the components of donor survey design and how to sidestep the countless pitfalls that plague so many surveys!

EVENT: Webinar - How to Respond to IT Security Incident for Nonprofits - NEW TIME 3-4pm EDT Wed Oct 17

Hi everyone! Wednesday Oct 17th from 3-4pm EDT please join Community IT Innovators CTO Matt Eshleman and President and CEO Johan Hammerstrom for a worst-case scenario walk through of how to respond to an IT security Incident at a nonprofit. They will discuss potential breaches such as email or Office 365 and share our experience responding to credential hacks and other situations. We will outline a checklist you should include in your security policies. We hope this is a useful resource you will never have to use, but with the cost of hacking falling and hacking becoming automated, unfortunately we are all at increasing risk. I hope you'll join us to learn what to do in the event you get that frantic call from a co-worker .. "I think we've been hacked!"

Sign up here - it is free, and not a sales pitch. All our past webinars are available on our site - we have several resources on creating your security policies, securing Office 365, and training staff - the webinar this week is specific to responding to a breach. http://www.communityit.com/connect-with-us/webinars/

    Hi All,

We are rebooting the DMV (District, Maryland, Virginia) Nonprofit Tech Club on Thursday, October 25. Just in time for Halloween, we will have a panel sharing nonprofit technology horror stories (and how they overcame them). Our great panel will discuss their "scary" experiences and how they managed the situation. Open conversation with questions and answers from the audience will be encouraged.

The US Holocaust Museum has graciously provided space for the event.

Please come out and meet us. We'd love to hear your ideas for ongoing events in the DMV. You can find details and registration at Boo! Your nonprofit technology horror stories (and how you overcame them) .

    See you there!
