We're trying to outfit some sets of laptops with software so we can start doing technology skills classes with them. As far as software that can empower people to be creative, I saw a lot of potential for basic animation, web design, and graphic design/photo-editing programs. The thing is all the programs I have found that can do any or all of these things is prohibitively expensive.

I realize there are probably a good deal of newer companies that probably make software that can do these same things but at a more competitive price point.

Can you all suggest to me some software platforms that might do the trick? Im not super excited about getting invested in some software made by a company that wont exist anymore in a year's time, but if its really solid I could be convinced.

Is there anyway you all know of to get Adobe CS licenses at any sort of discount?

    Hi Evert,

I looked over on Tech Soup and it looks like you can get the creative suite for $55: https://www.techsoup.org/adobe

I'd be curious if people have good recommendations for free software that's worth looking at.
