Cyber Security

We are about to embark on an initiative where we will be housing and analyzing sensitive, student-level data. In order to be FERPA compliant and abide by the data sharing agreement we have already signed with the school district, we need to tighten up our data security in house. We recently received an insurance liability quote for $6K for $1 Million in coverage. We thought this was on the expensive side. Was hoping to get some input from the NTEN community on their experience with cyber security, best practices and average costs.

    Thanks!

    Hi Denise,

Is your question about insurance coverage for security? I'd like to help you get some feedback but am having trouble parsing the question.

    Best,

    Bethany

    Hi there,

At our Foundation we are included and an additional named insured on the OHSU policy for their limit up to $10,000,000.

I have gone out to bid in the past and you have to secure your internal assets, but many cyber insurance coverage goes beyond assets and data and allows you to be eligible for breach response, credit monitoring, mailing notification for individuals affected by a breach and IT forensics.

Not knowing your environment, those prices seem in line depending on your services included.

Here is a company I have had bids with.

    I hope that helps!!
