    We are preparing a new orientation program for new board members giving communications a larger platform at our bi-annual board meetings. How does your organization orient board members to marking/communications? What do you expect from them and how do you prepare them?

    I wish I could answer this.

    We're only just beginning to develop standardized reporting to them, let alone going to the level of on-boarding a new member. Our marketing and communications (me) is currently in overhaul mode so I don't have most of the reporting tools I should have and certainly no data from before my time that would be in a usable form. I have 8 months to prepare before I step in front of them to give them my annual report and lay out a communications plan.

    I am also in the same situation, with an opportunity to provide training to the Board for communications, so am hoping some folks will chip in with their suggestions! Like @Gregg Banse I am also in overhaul mode​ and a dept. of one. I know there's webinars and more dedicated to this topic, so if anyone has suggestions for that as well that would be great.

    Ah - I've been thinking about creating a combination introduction page with downloadable orientation packet. This way, if they download, I'll know they visited the page and had enough interest to download and (hopefully) read the packet materials.

    I'm also in the beginning stages of setting up LearnDash LMS and have wondered if a short video training would be appropriate. Not sure on any of these though. I'm still in the weeds with content and marketing till the summer gets rolling. Then I can focus on this sort of project.
