    Hi, Kara.

    Thanks for the prod!
We used PopUp Maker and matched our banner images to the pop-up image. The same image also appeared on our hospitals' pages (separate from a philanthropy web site--a long story for another discussion!). We enabled the popup to appear once per user.

I don't yet have overall fundraising campaign results, but we were happy with our experiment for our organization's first #GT foray. We had 300+ opens of the pop-up.

I also learned a bit more about some of the back-end components of our WordPress site, which was developed before I came on board. Learning is always a fantastic bonus!

This was my first time spearheading a Giving Tuesday campaign, so I used it as an experiment to see how we'd do. We're a small nonprofit without much brand awareness, so I mainly focused on engaging/re-engaging our current subscribers or followers. I still need to study Google Analytics to see how much our web traffic increased, which was one of my goals, but we surpassed our modest fundraising goal - mainly due to one of our teachers who started a Facebook fundraiser that surpassed all of our expectations. It opened my eyes to the power of peer-to-peer fundraising. Our organization still does a lot of traditional print communication and direct mail, which is still successful for us fundraising-wise, but I'd like to see our online giving increase in the coming year. So I'll use the data from my Giving Tuesday campaign to help influence strategy moving forward.

Thanks for sharing, @Cindy Wright and @Lisa Fitz-Coy!
It sounds like you both had several takeaways from Giving Tuesday! I hope you'll keep us posted on how it goes once you've integrated what you learned with your communications strategies.

@Lisa Fitz-Coy Did any of your DM pieces include a call to action for giving online on Giving Tuesday? I did not have time to try it this year. Although, one of our DM pieces from late October did include a call to action of giving online and the result seems to be that a lot of folks actually decided to give online instead. Still sourcing some of the campaign data. :)

@Hayden Golden, yes we did add a line about donating online at our website, but many people still choose to send in our response card. We only recently moved away from using PayPal as our online donation platform and created our own secure one, so I think people aren't used to that yet. I need to create some messaging around that in our future communications so people who avoided in the past because they didn't like PayPal have a better option now. Thanks!

Hello! Sorry about my late response but I wanted to share something we tried for Giving Tuesday 2017. In our Sunday (Nov. 26) emails, we announced our goal for the number of donations we hoped to get by midnight on Giving Tuesday, shared updates in our two emails sent on Giving Tuesday, and showed a real-time "thermometer"/progress bar on donation forms to motivate potential donors. We also put a countdown clock in our emails to stress the urgency of the midnight deadline. Thanks to people's generosity, we surpassed our goal a few hours before midnight! I updated the forms to say the goal had been met, and I removed the thermometer. People kept on giving!

If you're looking for a simple way to motivate people to support your organization on Giving Tuesday 2018, consider sharing a goal (donors or dollars), showing your progress, and using a countdown clock (from a third party like Nifty Images, Sendtric or MotionMail).

    Best,
    Gaby
