Nonprofits and Data

last person joined: 18 days ago

This group is for those interested in learning and sharing about all things data-related for nonprofits. The Nonprofits and Data group is for people using data to serve a mission, either directly or by improving nonprofits and the nonprofit sector. That includes everything from collecting data and managing databases to analytics, data visualization and data mining. Here are some examples of topics we discuss: using data to improve organizational effectiveness, measuring impact, using data for storytelling, tools for data management and analysis, figuring out the “right” data to collect, and learning skills to help us use data better.

Thank you so much to everyone who participated in the lively discussion on our community call yesterday!  So many great questions as well as great suggestions or practices on data clean-up or duplicate management.  In case you  weren't able to join us, check out the collaborative notes: Nonprofits and Data Collaborative Notes

I've added a link to a worksheet that can be used to come up with your maintenance schedule.  You will also find the date of our next community call in the notes as well (and yes, we are taking a little break since we know how busy everybody is at year end).  Again, thanks to everyone who shared and helped take these notes!

Huge thanks to @Janice Chan and @Judy Freed for making it happen and huge thanks to all the participants for making it great!

I'd really like to turn more of the community-generated learning into blog posts so the larger nonprofit community can take advantage of the NTEN community's super smarts. This content would make a great post! Let me know if I can help make it happen!
