Spanish Curriculums

    Hello Everyone,
Atif pointed me to GCFLearnfree for Spanish curriculums.  I had no idea they had this.  Can you let me know of other places you go for Spanish curriculums on Office, Social Media, Internet Safety, File Management, etc.  Does Northstar have a Spanish assessment?  And if so are there lessons out there somewhere that go with the assessment?

    Thank you,
    Necole

This is a great question! Many of the people who are learning these skills speak Spanish.

The only thing I have come across are some resources from Tech Goes Home, which was shared in another thread. It's not exactly what you are looking for, but maybe it can be helpful. It's at https://www.techgoeshome.org/schoolandcommunity.

Since San Antonio has a large Hispanic population, maybe @Emma Hernandez or @Munirih Jester can help.

    Hi Necole,

Digitallearn.org has short video tutorials which are available in Spanish.  Also, there is a free language leaning database that Nashville Public Library offers to its patrons called Transparent Languages

    Here are some links: https://www.digitallearn.org/

Quick plug on your outreach/promotions to the audience in need:

n  don't forget to name your webpage URL in Spanish as that will improve the SEO for Spanish-language Googlers

n  If you're using Google AdWords/nonprofit grant, consider making an ad campaign that uses Spanish as the search/reading language and link to your Spanish webpage with your Spanish language tutorial assets

n  Add a "button" to your English tutorial page that redirects Spanish-language preference to your Spanish webpage URL with those Spanish materials

Tech Goes Home Boston has all their tutorials in multiple languages. Spanish and English versions are linked to each tutorial. Other versions are available for trainers, but they are not all listed.
https://www.techgoeshome.org/ - head to the curriculum areas that interest you and take a look.
FYI, they also offer Rosetta Stone to families who are learning English.

    Thanks,
    Deb

Where is the curriculum area? Is this different from the school & community page that I already posted the link to?

    Hi Emily,

Our school & community curriculum is at www.techgoeshome.org/schoolandcommunity, and our small business one is at www.techgoeshome.org/small-business. Our early childhood curriculum doesn't have tutorials for the apps so is probably not what you're looking for. Hope that's helpful.

Thanks for the shout out, Deb! :)

I recently heard about the Digital Inclusion Resource Library from the National Digital Inclusion Alliance (NDIA). You can filter materials by language, such as Spanish. Hope this helps!

Thank you so much for all of these resources.  I didn't have the chance to work with the ESL population during my Fellowship term but as it's ending in a few weeks I will be taking on a few ESL classes short-term until I find my next position.  These Basic Computer Skills curriculums will help bring Digital Inclusion to the huge ESL population here in Atlanta when I am able to incorporate them.
