I read an interesting article -  This story of a woman applying for a job epitomizes the digital divide

It's about Twitter user, Lisa Kaplan, who posted a thread about her experience at the library last week helping a homeless woman try to apply for a job online. The woman was applying online for a custodial job and seemed uncomfortable using the keyboard. She did not have an e-mail address or phone number to use for the application. Lisa tried to help her setup an e-mail address but couldn't since it required a phone number to text a link to. The woman was unable to apply for the job and Lisa connected her with a local organization.

This thread has gotten lots of likes and retweets. The comments were interesting too. Having a story like this shows a real life example of the digital divide.

It seems like there is now another barrier for people to create an e-mail address.

What are your thoughts about this experience and the comments it got on Twitter?
