This thread is for all you #19NTC
It's your first time! You have a lot of questions! Totally understandable! This thread will be a great place for you all to connect with other first-timers, ask any questions, and alleviate any before-conference stress/anxiety that you may have. If you're a NTC Vet, please feel to provide any tips or suggestions as well!
A few tips for you all to consider:
💬 Come up with your brief 30-45 second "elevator pitch"
related to #19NTC when you introduce yourself to people. (Rehearse/practice this a few times)
Where you work, What you do
What you're most excited about with #19NTC
Bring your Business Cards!
Pack plenty of business cards to hand out to any contacts you make while at the conference. If you don't have any, make some! Pro Tip: Email all your contacts once you return from NTC. You exchanged business cards for a reason, now make contact with your new business colleague!
Check out the Exhibitor Hall.
There are lots of great resources available in the
that may help the growth of your organization. Plus - You'll probably score some sweet SWAG!
Plan out your daily schedule
. Once the #19NTC conference agenda is posted, take a look at the WIDE variety of sessions we have planned and pick a handful to fill your daily schedule. Plan some backups in case a session fills up quick.
Bring some extra snackage.
Although the meal selection at #19NTC is going to top notch, be sure to pack some extra snacks to boost your energy throughout the day. Learning and Networking takes a lot out of people.
Introverted? We got you!
#19NTC will have designated tables/spaces for folks to have some quiet time to themselves. We get it; talking all the time isn't everyone's jam. Look for signage!
Birds of a feather!
During lunch, we will have tables set up for different communities and interest groups! Tech-related and non-tech related. (i.e. from Wordpress, to East Coasters, to Beer!) Check out our
Birds of a Feather
suggestion page and suggest a table to have at #19NTC! Feeling Daring? Be a host of the table.
Official NTC Party
! Mingle and enjoy a night at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) light snacks, non-alcoholic drinks, and one alcoholic beverage will be provided with every party ticket.
Looking forward to having you first-timers attend #19NTC in our hometown of Portland! Please reach out if you need anything. Feel free to connect with other first-timers via this thread as well!
