    Hi Kai! Thanks for getting this started. I think a knit night is a great idea!

    Tea Chai Te on E Burnside is a 10 minute walk from the convention center and open until 9 pm so that could be a good spot.

    Any thoughts on which night we should try for? Thursday is the official party so probably not that night. Perhaps Wednesday in case folks are leaving right after final sessions on Friday? Although Wednesday is the Dine Around night… What do you think?

BUT if anyone's up for a #NTCbeerDejaVuPartDeux on Wednesday after the first day of the conference, I'd love to join! Perhaps somewhere close to the conference site that we can walk over to for happy hour? Or try out our transit passes to get to? If anyone has suggestions, please share. Mahalo!

    There are four breweries within a mile from the Oregon Convention Center, all with fantastic beer:

    - Upright Brewing, known for its farmhouse-inspired beers (no food, limited hours);
    - Ex Novo, known for being the first nonprofit brewery in the world (they've since gone corporate);
    - Burnside Brewing, known for its cozy pub and beers for all tastes;
    - Wayfinder Beer, known for its Czech and German-style brews.

    Awesome beermap, @Peter Korchnak. Thank you for putting it together. I'd be up for a walking tour of those 4 places, starting at Wayfinder, then food and drinks at Burnside (thanks for vouching for the food there, @Megan Kizer), then walk up along and visit Upright and end at Ex Novo... I'm tempted to also add Widmer Brothers to the list since it's close to Ex Novo, and I'd like to try their beers that don't make it out to Hawai'i's shelves. Looking forward to this!

    Thanks, @Carrie Ginnane. Wayfinder/Burnside and Upright/Ex Novo/Widmer are in opposite directions. I've updated the map with a couple of itinerary suggestions, each under 2 miles and with some brewery additions. Beware, these aren't pretty walks, both go through predominantly light-industrial areas.

    https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1aQx3YfSf2Zow2Ek59697AZLn6PqGvFQn&hl=en&usp=sharing

    Note that Upright is closed on Wednesdays. If they didn't have the American Hefeweizen on tap (it really is best on tap), I'd recommend you skip Widmer Brothers, the "Budweiser of micros."

    Sadly, Burnside Brewing abruptly closed this week. And Widmer Brother's pub closed toward the end of January. A possible substitute might be a stop at Loyal Legion - it's not a brewery, but it's an Oregon Beer Hall and they have 99 taps, with beers only from Oregon. So you get to try a lot of different beers/breweries with just one stop. See https://loyallegionpdx.com/menus/

    Same here, I'm flying in from the east coast and arriving pretty late so unfortunately, I won't be able to attend NTCbeer Tuesday night. If someone could start an alternate get together and one of the aforementioned venues and post it in the doc, that would be great. (If its already been done obviously ignore this)

    Love it and hope to join! I submitted the #CraftBeer Birds of a Feather session so hopefully we get some good traction there.

    I'll also be hosting an invite only beer dinner at Modern Times Beer the next day, March 13. We'll be discussing the topic "Are humans necessary for fundraising" and looking to get folks interested in driving change and providng thought leadership on that discussion. Free dinner, I'm picking up the tab. If interested, form can be found here.

    UPDATE - I made a map! I took what I saw mentioned here, some recommendations (some much further than others) and plugged them into Portland Brews map. feel free to add to it! I'm hoping to put together some sort of itinerary to check out a few each evening.  Portland Brews - Google My Maps

    Very excited for #NTCBeer! I have been asking around and was told of some awesome breweries including:

    • Modern Times
    • APEX
    • Great notion
    • Baerlic
    • Baileys Tap Room
    • Breakside
    • Cascade
    • Belmont Station
    • Ecliptic
    • Hair of the Dog
    • Great Notion
    • Fort George
    • Labrewatory
    • Beer'o'Clock
    • BaseCamp
    • HUB
    I plan on finding two a night if I have to go find some good brews. I've never been but these were all recommended by some other beer travelers. Looking forward to getting to connect with some amazing new people over a few pints! Hoping all of these are walking distance as i want to stretch my legs to find some good drinks!

    @Travis Harrick:

    • +1 @Jane Ribadeneyra RIP Burnside Brewing
    • APEX, Baileys Tap Room, and Beer'o'Clock, while they have amazing beer selections, aren't breweries but rather taprooms or beer bars.
    • Modern Times is based in San Francisco. Give your beer love to local breweries, there are 70 in Portland alone and over 100 in the metro area.
    • Fort George is based in Astoria, Oregon and does not have a Portland location. Their excellent beers are widely available though.
    • Walking distance: depends how much you enjoy walking :-)

    @Peter Korchnak Thank you for the info!

    I did see the Burnside Brewing, I've never been and alas never will. I will make sure to note that they are Tap Rooms, but I also enjoy a good taproom ;) Good call on Modern times, it is my goal to shop as local as possible. After I did the map I did see how far the Fort George was, but I'll keep an eye out for some pickups around town. I'm hoping to bring some Portland brew back to Phoenix. I'm hoping to walk a bunch, maybe organize a small NTC Crawl if you will.

    I'd also recommend adding Stormbreaker Brewing on the list. Slightly biased as my friend is the brewer, but hey they deserve lots of credit for amazing beer and great food! They are up on Mississippi Ave. As a Portland resident for 9 years and homebrewer, happy to help add some complexity and hop-notes to the #ntcbeer conversation!

    I imagine that a bottle share with beer from our respective locales would be a lovely idea but also a pain in the butt for flights. I'm up to try if others are, I pack beer for my checked bag all the time. Came back from Portland once with 40 pounds worth of beer.

    That are we find something awesome from a local brewery and try to share. Bottle shares are a lot of fun.

    @Elizabeth Quick Let's try it! I'l see what I can grab locally at the least. My issue is that I'm flying from my home in upstate New York to Las Vegas before this trip, so I don't want to complicate that. MAYBE if I see something amazing in Vegas I'll bring that but with Portland, there's so much great stuff that a local share is kind of awesome. Cascade Brewing alone will be worth a pop.

    Hopefully they let us bring bottles to the Craft Beer Birds of a Feather....

    Hi everyone!

    The ThinkShout team is super stoked to have NTC in our home town of Portland this year. To show our enthusiasm, we're hosting a happy hour on Wednesday, March 13th at our offices from 6-8pmThis event is not an official NTC event nor is it produced in association with NTEN. We are simply excited and we wanted to celebrate while we are all together in the same city.

    Our office is located on the 7th floor of the Falcon Building (a short walk from the Oregon Convention Center across the Steel Bridge). Come by for mini golf (for reals!), free drinks, snacks, and amazing views of downtown as the sun sets. Space is limited, so reserve your ticket while you can!
