As part of our Connecting The Information Dots Webinar Series, here's a webinar that might be of interest to the NTEN Community:

On Tuesday, October 17th, from 11:30AM to 12:45PM ET, we will present a free webinar:

Buyer Beware: Selecting Vendors and & Negotiating Terms in Technology Agreements

With the proliferation of new technological solutions for everything from fundraising to donor relationship management, program analytics to payment processing, organizations are increasingly engaging a wide-variety of third-party vendors. The services being provided by such vendors are often "mission-critical," meaning they are essential to an organization's ability to meet their goals and pursue their mission. As the legal contract with these vendors form the groundwork for the delivery and continuing functionality of the system being provided – and details the rights, obligations and remedies of the parties – it's essential that NFPs / NGOs are prepared to properly and effectively review and negotiate the legal terms...

Join us at the Nonprofit Summit at the Bay Area Drupal Camp this October!

As the Lead Organizer of the Bay Area Drupal Camp (BADCamp), I wanted to invite everyone in this community to join us this Oct 18 at this year's BADCamp Nonprofit Summit at UC Berkeley. This is a free event that is set up to help nonprofits launch or enhance their online presence with seminars, trainings, and talks. There's a lot to learn and plenty of great people to meet!

What is BADCamp & why go?

BADCamp, or the Bay Area Drupal Camp, is a free annual Drupal conference for the people. It is four days of talks, trainings, summits, sprints and socials with some of the brightest Drupal minds from all over the world. The Nonprofit Summit on Wednesday, October 18th is designed specifically for nonprofit organizations in mind to help them connect the right digital audience with their mission and goals, so anyone involved in the nonprofit world can benefit from the event!

It's a community event, and I'd like to get the community involved. Feel free to book a 15 min call with me here to discuss topics you would like to hear about during the summit.

Or if you would, take a few moments to fill out this quick survey to help me narrow down some ideas.

I want to make sure that you are registered for this amazing event. Follow this link to sign up or reply and we will sign up for you.

Let me know if you are going to be able to make it!

Not sure if it's ok to promote a webinar that my organization is hosting this month on this thread, but figured I'd try. If this is inappropriate, let me know and I'll hold off on doing so in future months. Otherwise, here's the info:

Every month the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation hosts a Meet the Scientist Webinar, moderated by Jeffrey Borenstein, M.D., President & CEO of the Foundation. The presenters each month are expert brain/neuroscience researchers talking about the latest findings in mental health research. They are quite fascinating, and if you know someone living with a mental illness (we all do), you'll probably find the content in these webinars educational and helpful.

Our October webinar is:

Psychosocial Interventions for Maternal Depression: Impact on School Age Children
Presented by Holly A. Swartz, M.D. of the University of Pittsburgh
Tuesday, October 10, 2017
2:00pm - 3:00pm EST
Register for this free webinar here

Free webinar on Donor Retention on Thursday, October 26th at Noon CST.

We're gearing up for end-of-year appeal season and are already thinking about how to engage our new donors after the new year.

Here's a synopsis:
You're probably going to reach new donors during your upcoming end-of-year fundraising campaign. How will you transform these new, first-time donors into repeat donors, year after year? As you move into the new year, improve your fundraising efforts-and save time and money in the process-by focusing on donors who have already shown interest. In this webinar, we'll share tactics for increasing repeated donations using tested (and a few experimental) strategies. By the end of this webinar, you should be able to:

  • Express gratitude to your donors in creative ways
  • Showcase your donors' impact effectively
  • Plan and implement sustainer campaigns
  • Craft an approach to ensure long-term donor retention
Registrants will also receive a free Marketing Campaign Template to use for future planning.

Hope you'll join us!

Two free webinars: Getting Started with Google AdGrants and Google Analytics

We look at how charities can use Google AdGrants and Google Analytics to drive more visitors to their website, raise awareness of their campaigns, and gather valuable insights into evaluating their success online. These webinars are ideal for small charities and those wanting to know more about Google's suite of powerful free tools.

Hosted by Lasa. Presented by Jason King. Both webinars are supported by the City of London Corporation's charity, City Bridge Trust.

19 October - Promote your charity's website with a Google Ad Grant

A Google Ad Grant gives your charity up to £7,000 per month's worth of free advertising to help your charity's website reach a wider audience. It's of huge benefit when raising awareness of your services and campaigns. In this webinar you will learn how to apply for a Google Grant; how to use Google Adwords to write eye-catching ads that appear in Google search results; good practice for choosing keywords that work; and how to measure results and improve your advertising campaigns.

22 November - How Google Analytics helps your charity improve its website

How successfully does your charity's website reach its intended audience? How well are you engaging with people online? What does and doesn't work on your website? How can you tell where your website's visitors are coming from or if they're viewing your website on a mobile device? The free Google Analytics tool provides a wealth of data that you can use to evaluate your success online, and help you make decisions to improve the reach of your website. This webinar will give you an overview of Analytics, useful for any non-profit worker with responsibility for their website.

Just a reminder that on next Tuesday, October 17th, from 11:30AM to 12:45PM ET, we will present a free webinar:

Buyer Beware: Selecting Vendors and & Negotiating Terms in Technology Agreements

With the proliferation of new technological solutions for everything from fundraising to donor relationship management, program analytics to payment processing, organizations are increasingly engaging a wide-variety of third-party vendors. The services being provided by such vendors are often "mission-critical," meaning they are essential to an organization's ability to meet their goals and pursue their mission. https://www.npoki.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/59d00154befda_img.pngIn this webinar, Moderator Surya Sayed-Ganguly and Attorney Jon Dartley will walk you through the maze of tasks, questions, and considerations needed to insure success when assessing, selecting and negotiating terms with technology vendors, including:

·         Nuts & Bolts of the Pre-Selection Process, including how to determine if an RFP is warranted?

·         Negotiating Price – factors and tactics to be considered, including fixed price versus time and materials.

·         Working with Key Stakeholders – how and when to bring the right staff to the table, and how each can help to insure success

·         Business Considerations – reviewing the contract, both internally (stakeholders) and externally (lawyers).

·         Legal Terms and Conditions – Key terms to include to protect against/mitigate delays, price overruns, data breaches, vendors failure to perform as expected, etc. Negotiating key terms is essential to protecting your organization.

Who should attend:

We welcome all NFP/NGO staff involved in helping to select technology vendors and negotiate vendor contracts to bring your questions.

Hi everyone!

This month our webinar is on "What's New In Office 365" Webinar: October 18th 2017 - What's New In Office 365 - Community IT Innovators including information specific to nonprofits using Office 365 to utilize the cloud or move to the cloud. There are so many features you probably aren't using some that would help your organization be more productive! Learn how to make the most of its features for your organization, train your staff to see the value of this platform, tips to save time and work efficiently and effectively, and the correct set up to keep your work accessible to your team while secure from hackers.

This webinar is aimed at IT staff and Nonprofit Managers who oversee IT – and as with all our webinars, we will discuss technology in a manner that is accessible to a varied audience. If you have never attended a Community IT Innovators webinar, we host them to support our nonprofit tech community, and we never use them to hard sell anything - and we won't start hounding you via email (I have been on the receiving end of that from so. many. webinars) In fact, you can check out all our past webinars for free on our website, no sales involved :)

Hope you can make it Wednesday Oct 18 at 4pm EDT.

Tech4Good SWFL, the local #nptechclub is publishing a list of nonprofit technology online events every month.

You can see the October listing here

On Oct 23 + 24 we will work on the November listing. If you offer a nonprofit technology webinar and if you'd like to have it listed, send us an email to tech4goodswfl@nptechprojects.org
Information we need

  • Provider
  • Event/Registration URL
  • Twitter account
If you have a permanent page for your events, we would only need that URL and we can put it on our list of the page to watch for new events.
For now, it's a once a month editorial process, if you webinars are not scheduled by Oct 23 we won't be able to update the page later.

We are working with our sponsors to obtain enough funding to develop an ongoing updated version of the list, but we are not there yet. If you are interested in sponsoring, use the mentioned email address, too:-)

Looking forward to your event emails:-)

The data community is having a community call about data cleanup and duplicate management on Oct. 26, 1-1:45 p.m. Eastern. All are welcome! You can join online or by phone.

We'll discuss:

  • How do you monitor your database for duplicates and bad/incomplete data?
  • Do you have a regular process for cleaning it up? What does that look like?
  • How can duplicates and bad/incomplete data be prevented?
  • What do you do about obsolete data?
    • Who gets to decide?
    • Where does it go when you purge?

Bring your questions and experiences. Or feel free to just listen in.

There are two ways to join the call:

  1. Go to our online conference room, add your name and click "Join" or log in. Then click "My Computer" from the audio options menu. Open a separate tab in your browser and open the collaborative notes. OR,
  2. Use 866-853-1888 (no PIN needed) to dial in with a phone line. If your computer is available, open your browser and open the collaborative notes.
I hope you'll be able to join us!
