1.  WordPress at NTC2018

Posted 8 days ago

I'm on overload with the vast opportunity to connect with fellow WordPress Community members at NTC this year. Here's a smidge of what's waiting for you in New Orleans - I hope you will join us for one, or all, of these gatherings:

Pre-conference WordPress Day
-- Tuesday April 10
-- $20, register here
-- Here's the Schedule - NTC WordPress Day: April 10, 2018 in New Orleans, LA -
-- Jason and I will be hosting the 2p session on You are Not Alone: You're Part of the WordPress Community. Bring your questions!

-- Follow the conversation at #18NTCWORDPRESS .
-- I'm particularly interested in meeting this "Guttenberg"...

Opportunities to connect:

  • WordPress Community Connect Session @ 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, 4/11 in Room 270  - Put the name and avatar to the real face! This is your chance to meet-up with and talk about everything WordPress (dash of commiserating OK) with our online group in person. Jason and I will welcome you at the door, share some of what we offered on Tuesday's WordPress Day, plus what we gleaned from the full-day immersion, and continue the conversation we normally hold online. Bring it all with you: questions, comments, concerns and experience to share with others.
  • Birds of a Feather lunch tables - No one should eat lunch alone, particularly at NTC! Look for the WordPress table each lunch break in the Exhibit Hall (map here).
  • Interested in cohosting the WP BoaF table? We're looking for Wednesday hosts, and a couple co-hosts for Thursday & Friday. Email Jason or I directly if you're interested in greeting our community.
  • Use the Pac Man Principle: Remember the Big Yellow Open Mouthed video game icon? When talking with others in a group, leave a space for another set of shoes in your circle (representative of the Pac Man mouth opening). This allows others to join in the conversation without the awkward "butting in" feeling or tiptoeing above shoulders to hear the conversation. As one person joins, open up for another Pac Man space. @BethanyLister wrote about this last year; I hope she can connect us with that link!

Sessions presented by WordPress group members:

 Can't make it to NTC?:

  • Mark will be holding down our online community fort that week. Show him the love by checking in and asking questions.
  • Jason and I with report back with post-conference recaps.

Hope to see you someone in our community, online or in-person, April 10-13. T

I have little to add to Tara's very comprehensive schedule. Think she covered just about everything.

Except to say that I look forward to meeting some of you at NTC and WordPress Day.

I think we have more WordPress content at NTC than ever before.

And we will report any interesting WordPress related tidbits back to the forum.

Oh, and NTC Beers the evening of WordPress Day - 10th Annual #ntcbeer

I wish I could attend - sounds like it will be a blast. I'd love to have some after-hours shoptalk with folks. Perhaps, next year. Have fun!
