Hi everyone,

It’s the new year. Time to review what’s available in the NTEN online community platform. This here general discussion forum (aka NTEN Discuss) is a great space for all things nonprofit tech but there are several special interest groups too. Rather than take my word for it, I’m going to ask NTEN’s fabulous online community volunteers to post here about the awesome groups they support.

Don’t see what you’re looking for and want to suggest or start a new group? Want to volunteer? Learn more here: http://www.nten.org/community/online-groups/about/. Contact me if you have any questions: bethany@nten.org

Happy joining!

Hey NTENers,
I co-moderate the NTEN Drupal Community of Practice with Margaux O'Malley and Jess Snyder. We've got an email discussion list, and every month we hold a "Drupal Q&A Chat Call". It's usually the third Thursday of the month, and anyone who uses Drupal in a nonprofit, is thinking about using Drupal in a nonprofit, or builds Drupal sites for, with, or in nonprofits is welcome.

Our calls are informal. The calls and the discussion list are a intended as a place to touch base with peers, colleagues, experts, and others using Drupal in nonprofits. We aim to be beginner-friendly, and are happy fielding questions like "what's Drupal, actually?" to "what module are you using for XYZ thing?". We also talk about strategic bigger-picture things like "do I need to switch to Drupal 8, and if so, when?" or "we are planning for a new site with a CRM integration, anyone been there?" or "we have a tight budget but need to do [A Thing] in Drupal, any ideas?", etc.  We usually talk about recent and upcoming Drupal camps and conferences and general web development events, and share resources for ongoing learning.

So, if you're org staff and have questions of any kind about Drupal, or you are a Drupal expert and have knowledge you're willing to share that might help others get out of a jam, please feel free to join us on our NTEN Drupal CoP list, and/or check our our notes document with call-in info at http://bit.ly/npdrupalnotes (permanent home, archived monthly).

Our next call is scheduled for Thursday, February 16th, 1pm EST/10am PST.

Hi, NTENers! If you collect data, use data, or just plain love data, join your fellow data nerds in the Nonprofits and Data group. http://community.nten.org/data

We talk about topics like:

  • using data to improve organizational effectiveness
  • measuring impact
  • using data for storytelling
  • tools for data management and analysis
  • figuring out the “right” data to collect
  • learning skills to help us use data better

Fundraising data, program data, marketing data – whatever kind of data you use, we want to hear from you!

Hi everyone,

I co-moderate the WordPress online community with Jason King and Mark Root-Wiley. Our group is open to WordPress users at all levels, from advanced developer to content manager to end user. If you are using (or thinking about using) WordPress in any capacity, come hang with us!

We (the moderators) post a variety of regular content on the forums, including the "WordPress Question of the Month," the monthly "Member Profile" and the "SHINY UPDATES" WordPress news updates. Community members post a great variety of questions too, which are answered by other community members. We are all constantly learning and growing in our WordPress usage and knowledge, helping each other to constantly improve and stretch our skills.

We welcome new members with open arms - please join us!

Hi everyone!

I co-moderate the Project Management Online Community with Maria Sterck. Our group is open to anyone who is managing a program, a project, or even a task. You don't need to have the title Project Manager to join in our discussions. Some of our favorite topics include: PM methodologies like agile, lean, and waterfall, managing schedules, using technology to facilitate the PM process, staying on budget, collaborating with stakeholders, and many more.

Please stop by and introduce yourself!
