1.  Documenting Program Change

Posted Jan 19, 2017 18:24
Hello!

I'm working on a new system to document content changes to our programs and courses. Before I go recreating the wheel does anyone have any favorite templates or tools?

What I'm thinking of doing - a Google Sheet with maybe a related Google Form people can fill out that documents the change, why it was/needs to be done, the old content, the new content, approvals needed/given, date - that sort of thing. As we move our content into Drive I know some of this will be recorded in the version changes of a document but we need a clear way for things like a deleted slide in a class to be recorded - partially to bring a sense of awareness to the people doing the change that what happens in one place affects other documents and people.

Kai,

It sounds like you are wanting to build a document management system for Google Drive, is that right?

Searching that I found this link here at nten: https://www.nten.org/article/google-drive-as-an-organizational-document-management-system-an-nten-case-study/

Our focus is on building Drupal projects and we are experimenting with integrations with Google Drive using https://www.drupal.org/project/droogle.

I would think you will find some work in process out there you might try if you can keep it simple.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for your thoughts. Its a little different than a document storage/management system - though we are doing that in Google too! This is for recording and easily reviewing the changes made to content during planned course revisions (such as removing the topic of how to wash hands from a class).
