I am trying to understand this message - and HOW to get 'front page content' There was something our initial developer created - based on old website - that we removed and then got this error message.
there ARE other things on the Front Page - articles that have been "Promoted" etc.
I have other pages etc. - just not sure how to get them on the Front Page so that these error messages go away.

Hi Stuart,

By default drupal will give you a "news feed" sort of homepage, which I've basically never used. I always replace this with an actual page, or a panel or view or whatever else.

In d8 this setting is at: /admin/config/system/site-information

Look for the front page setting there, and put in what page you want to show as your homepage, for example node/10 or whatever. This will have your homepage show up as a basic page content node (for example), but you can also then use blocks to add to this with latest news, calls to action, or whatever else.

There are many other things you can do with the homepage but this is just a quick and easy option.
