Nonprofits and Data

This group is for those interested in learning and sharing about all things data-related for nonprofits. The Nonprofits and Data group is for people using data to serve a mission, either directly or by improving nonprofits and the nonprofit sector. That includes everything from collecting data and managing databases to analytics, data visualization and data mining. Here are some examples of topics we discuss: using data to improve organizational effectiveness, measuring impact, using data for storytelling, tools for data management and analysis, figuring out the “right” data to collect, and learning skills to help us use data better.

Does anyone use Insightly?

    Hello friends,

While my full-time professional job is in fundraising, I'm also on the board of directors for a non-profit, housing cooperative association, with approximately 5,000 members. The org currently uses Excel spreadsheets (LE GASP) to manage data; part of the strategic plan is to move to a database to manage files and relationships.

Our Executive Director is quite keen on Insightly. I'm wondering if anyone uses this program, and would be open to an email chat or phone call about their experiences with it?

    Thank you!

Bumping this back up...  Anybody have any experience with Insightly?  Or have other recommendations that would be good for associations of this size/type?

I have used Insightly to manage my consulting practice. I would not recommend it as an association management system.

Michelle, I'd be happy to talk about it with you, book a time with me at http://www.calendly.com/sage70/30min

TL;DR - Insightly is an excellent tool for managing a well-defined sales process and coordinating the work of sales, fulfillment and customer success. It isn't a membership management tool, and there are likely more suitable membership and association management tools to consider, based on your size and needs.

We were big fans of insightly for some time, but recently their Gmail plugin has not been working and has made Insightly a hassle to use. We are exploring alternatives. Also, as Isaac mentioned, we were using this in a consulting practice, and I wouldn't recommend it for donor management.
