Website Redesign Vendor Recommendations

Hi all, I'm assisting one of my companies local shelter sites with a website redesign and we are beginning to scope out companies to overhaul/redesign our current website ny.covenanthouse.org.  The current site is 6-7 years old and was launched on Drupal just prior to responsive design blowing up so it is in need of some help.

We are looking for a vendor who can provide a fresh perspective on the needs of a website for our agency without breaking the bank.  I know there are a ton of vendors in the NYC area, but I'd much prefer a recommendation from folks that have used their services.  We have previously worked with vendors on other projects who are not local and we are not opposed to doing that again if connect with the right vendor who shares our vision.

Any and all help is appreciated.

    Hey Karin,

We are actually a digital agency who primarily works with nonprofits - and though located in Chicago, we have past and current clients in NYC (actually, we are coming to your city in a few weeks to kick off a couple of projects). So if you'd like to see some of our work and chat, would love to learn more about your needs - and happy to supply references, examples or both.

    All the best,

    Hi Karin,
I work for a non-profit in Denver, CO and we have redesigned six of our nine websites (https://www.smartaboutmoney.org/, https://www.cashcourse.org/, Financial Workshop Kits  to name a few) to be responsive in the last two years (whew!).  We partnered with a Rochester-based (but actually world-wide employees) called ITX ) and have had a great experience from start to finish.  I would highly recommend them.  My main point of contact is Mike Spring and I'd be happy to make an introduction and/or expand our our projects if you'd like.  Best of luck!

    Hi Karin,
We've been working with Advomatic (Home - Advomatic) since 2012, a NYC-based digital agency that works primarily with advocacy groups/non-profits, labor unions, education and gov't institutions. We've built three separate web entities with them and continue to use them for technical support. I'd recommend highly. They will also be at NTEN 2018 if you want to meet the VP for accounts in person.

    Hi Karin,

We were in the same boat as you are right now.  Our website myeloma.org needed a redesign and a move from a customized platform to drupal.

We initially hired a drupal shop near our homebase in CA and they developed the first iteration of the website before it blew up. Mostly because management and the team were not happy with the design and the workflow. As good as that shop was, they were not a fit with our organization.

After dropping a big chunk of our web budget through this firm we needed a fix on the drupal site without going through the whole process of entering in content and dropping thousands of dollars in redesigning and redeveloping the site.

We eventually ended up with Promet Source. They are a drupal only shop based in Chicago and they managed to fix the drupal site and pretty much followed what we initially envisioned for our site. Jenna Reardon, Johnny Fox, and the rest of the team actually listened to what we needed.

Drupal has a relatively high learning curve and they were patient with our team as we learned to use the CMS.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Karin,

I'm here in NYC with you, and have always loved Covenant House. I'd love the chance to chat with you if you'll forgive the shameless promotion!

I've made sites for many of New York's nonprofits, and since I've also spent my whole career working for a nonprofit, I know how to do it well without breaking the bank! Check out www.solveitsimply.com/websites.

    Hi Karin,

We recently did a website redesign (Humanity & Inclusion's website) with Liberal Art when we rebranded in January. We've been working with Liberal Art over the past 5+ years and couldn't be happier. Also, we're a small team with a small budget and they've always provided high-quality designs for a reasonable price. I'd be happy to connect with with their team/tell you more about them if interested.

Greetings from Portland, OR. I own a design company that transforms websites for nonprofits and changemakers to expand their global reach. We recently helped Free Wheelchair Mission give the gift of mobility to a much broader audience.

Karin, I'm curious about the motivation behind the redesign. I sent you a couple questions on LinkedIn, cheers.

I highly recommend the folks at Capellic and Echo.co.

We were in a tight spot with our budget, and they did an amazing job rebooting our homepage into something functional and yet still fitting with all our aesthetics. The person you'd want to speak with is Joel Bush -

    Hi Karin,

My name is Mike Arrowsmith and I'm an account manager and strategist at Yoko Co. We are an interactive marketing and web design firm which focuses on working exclusively with organizations who have passion or purpose that goes beyond merely profit. With that in mind, I'd love to chat with you about how we can help to enhance your organization's web presence and ultimately further your mission.

Would you be open to scheduling a 15 minute call to learn a little bit more about each other and see if we might be a fit for each other?

In the meantime, feel free to check out our website: https://www.yokoco.com/
